This is a pencil case that sew by my 2nd daughter cutie and happy-go- lucky weekie. . . But she does not satisfy with it. . She complained thaet the the book had given wrhong instruction to her. . Hahax. . However, i like it. . . Frankly , the book does not provide detailed instruction, we had to flipped here and there to test how to assemble it.

DD#1 finished her PMR exam, so most of the days she did not go to school. She managed to finished her 1 year stitching WIP, which is yet to wash and send for framing.

She started a new project. Somehow when she is accepted for AFS studeng exchange programme, she asked me to knit her a cap and she made herself a scarf. She has chosen a pattern which I have been queueing in my to do list - Entrelac Scart...which I do not know how,so finally both of us manage to figure out how to knit and she is progressing well with her knitting, though the initial few rows are a bit loose in stitches.

I am happy at least she could knit and there is someone to use my stash as well. The actual color supposed to be bright aqua green?...but it came out light blue instead. Overall we love the outcome.

have quite a number of photo to update in this blog, but effect is very poor due to almost spoilt camera...

VS WSG AS AT 10 OCT 2009, though I love this, I have so many WIPs in hand to distract me too.

my Chinese Style Pullover , with Shosensi paper yarn, spent few hours to untangled the mess of tangled yarn.

this is stitched by DD#1, to be framed as clock. She added buttons instead of wordings.

I started this on 12 Oct 2009, see, there is no FO in stitch piece but I started 3 new projects in 2009. This is Chatelaine's Indian Summer Reflection, using my on hand stock of silk floss and beads instead of buying thread pack and bead pack.

Finally, back to MW Asia SAL, I am still in Pt 3, my choice of color is rather mute and boring.

sewing reversible envelope

size of both fabrics: 8" x 12"

sew on of the width edge of both fabric with right sides facing each other (e.g. sew from wrong side of fabrics)

2. draw 4" line from the sewn line (which is to form the pocket of envelope)

3. fold from the wrong side of the fabric (1st: backing fabric/floral), which you have the right side of backing fabric facing right side of your project fabric (checked fabric)

now you have folded bottom pocket of envelope and wrong side on top of the other (e.g. 4 layers of fabric, now you are still working from wrong sides of fabric), this folded end is free from sewing

4. (a) start of the beginning edge of the folded 4 layers place , sew until the end of the envelope, and turn fabric with needle in place of the fabric and sew another 3 inches and stop.

(b) repeat with another edge of the folded 4 layers and leave abt 2 - 3 " on top of the envelope to enable turning the envelope to its right side.

this is the view of the bottom pocket of the envelope.

from this opened end (2-3" opening) turn the envelope

yes, it is done and reversible too.

you may hand stitch the opening end to have neat finishing or sew a line near to the edge of fabric.

Hope I am clear with this narration.

I found this almost reflects the actual color of my stitched piece....yes, I finished page. 1, the ewhite flower and pot is stitched with Anchor white floss, which I prefer much as it is much alike silky smooth. Along my progress, I am eager to stitch more and more to see completion of each motif, hopefully I am consistent in my stitching mojo as I have so many WIPs in hand and with this SAL, I am at least motivated, hope to have this as FO of 2009.

yes...I am crazy with Wollmeise yarn,...lace ? sock ? anything is WM yarns....but too bad, I have only collected sock yarn since last year August..lucky to join the sock club 2008/2009, this year there is no more sock club, so I have 8 skeins, and used up 2 skeins. When there were updates, I missed the opportunity...but I did manage to get some through the updates....additional 13 skeins...and I am still monitoring if there is any updates from time to time....just love it. My 3 dear daughters also admire WM yarn....told them if ever mummy no longer alive, you don't use it, are you going to destash this WM yarns? they said they will ask other knitter friends to knit up for them, not going to sell .....LOL

I took a day leave 2 weeks ago, #2 told me not to cook as she would come home to cook this Mickey pasta for us....this cute pasta is posted from Singapore, appreciation to a knitter friend who helped me to buy, pack and post them to me...taa...daa...here it is...my #3 favourite, and told the sisters that she felt relunctant to eat the pasta, scared to finish them

shhh...another spinning wheel. Though this is used yet it is almost new...thank you, for a dear friend helped to get this...supposed to buy for a friend but blessing in disguise, delayed decision made me think I shall keep this. Another knitter friend wants it too....my #3 plays with it, #1 & #2 agreed that mummy cannot have 2 wheels. Frankly speaking, I feel relunctant to depart with it...#3 said no....see she is enjoying....while guiding her told her not to give up as mummy takes 2 months to spin fine...she replied: "ummm I think I will take less than that coz I have mummy to teach me"....ohh...so embarrassed, luckily there are no advanced spinners around us at home :P

new craze/new toy

I must be crazy. Ever since I am back to knitting, seeing spinners spun their own yarn, was eyeing for spindle or wheel years ago. Get the spindle 2 years ago and never managed to spin fine sock / lace yarn .

by End of Feb 2009, craze struck me ...I ordered Majacraft Pioneer wheel from NZ and here my stash craze built up day by day

I love knitting sock..may be it is small item and easily to finish and I always make sure I finished them.

this is Hotsock KAL with Malaysian knitters group. The top photo was CO officially 1 Mar 2009, by 14th Mar ripped all and re-CO; ogggg...something wrong again, I ripped all again, start with another lovely yarn (from Wolmeisse, Jumtomte Sock Club yarn #1) on 21 Mar 2009. So far so good, I am at 3rd repeat of instep pattern.

received Sew Pretty book from a stitcher's friend, loves all the sewing items in the books, and wondering how to do it as all is gorgeous items. Tried this yesterday, it looks lovely in photo, however, a bit odd / funny in person.

In facts, #2 also sewn a pencil case which I forgot to snap the photo.

baked this extra-ordinary big size pineapple tarts prior to Chinese New Year, using the cookies cutter (Doreamon & Snoopy) .

Christmas day 2008 -
brought the kids to do final shopping before school reopens in 2 weeks time, as well as preparation for coming Chinese New Year. Finally managed to buy shoes for #2 & #3, which I found is not easy to buy a pair of nice shoes for both with reasonable price , and yet they have their own preferrence. #3 is a beauty conscious, not so happy with the final choice, yet under such circumstances I advised her to get hers.

Back home, the #2 (is closer to her) convinced hers is nice with dress. Off they went to the room to test their fashion parade....giggles and laughters heard. Suddenly I aware that we had no such laughters since they lost their daddy 7 years ago. I have to blame myself for this, as every CNY eve and 1st day of CNY, I brought them together to pray their daddy, and I was never in the mood for CNY decoration / celebration since then, the 3 girls never complained and always be silent on this although they helped my sis and parents to decorate houses for CNY....until last year I made a change that we only go to Gambang (memorial park where their late daddy is placed) on CNY eve and send them to their friends house on the first day of CNY.....

thank you to my friend (FY) who always there to enlighten me and reminds me that kids "their names is kid",...they enjoy wearing new clothings during CNY and giggles with their fashion matching with shoes, socks ...had a good chat with them before to sleep as they wanted to listen my story shared with their late daddy during our travelling.

Received a phone call from SIL informed that her SIL (hubby sister) committed suicide yesterday, left behind a 8yrs old daughter. In a sudden, I am lost...have gone through many events in my life for the past 7 years and I think it is not easy to the deceased to make such a drastic decision, even when the brother (my SIL hubby) was with her few minutes prior to her action.

Though I told myself not to look back with what I went through, I have been thinking lately that I should be satisfied that there are true good friends around me all this years, be it those around me and those I know "virtually" (online friends who are yet to meet each other). I must learn how to appreciate what I have and not to focus on what I am sad of. My utmost appreciation to friends & family members who always encourage me during my up / down time in my life....

- this XMas MA is a surprise to me indeed. Wee Kie received hers

from Diane. When I saw an envelope from Lillie, I thought this is

MA inside to her. So I did not open and let her opened the envelope.

She called from my sister house and asked "Mummy, Diane is

daughter of Auntie Lillie? There is a MA from Auntie Lillie to you"

in short while , I went to my sister house to admire this lovely MA.

- bought his Wonder Mould from Wilton PJ. I baked the cake, decoration by my #2, Wee
Kie, this is the first decoarative Barbie doll cake as a trial piece. As she planned to decorate
a 2nd one for my niece (Jordan) as birthday cake when she was here last week .

- baked normal buttercake for the wonder mould, and kids (my 3 girls and another 2 boys of
friend kept asking when could they eat the cake. So baked additional in this bear mould,
which I bought from Wilton , PJ.

- sunflower silicone mould bought from Wilton PJ.

- I did bento from time to time, just that I am lazy to take photo,

as I was rushing to office (most of the time). this bento is for #3

- my last batch of bento gears in 2008

It has been more than 1 1/2 month for me disappearing from blog world. November 2008 was a "testing" month for me. Brought my mum in / out hospital, as she was schedule to have cataract surgery on 9th Dec and finally the General Hospital did it as scheduled. They had been telling me postponed , on and postponed. Very frustrating as during that time, the nurse did some mistake and I have to bring my mum for additional visit. Every visit means I have to take 1/2 day off from work and I have finished all my leaves, as on the 14th November , my dad fell off from roof and admitted to hospital. Basically I was in / out clinic, hospital every weeks and was sick almost every week , may be due to the wet weather and I was running in / out from car and got myself wet due to dizziling raindrops. I should not have complained though, as I fully utilised the 3hrs waiting hour in hospitals to knit / cross stitch.

During this "challenging" period, friends are my good moral supporter and helped me a lot. I am tired and worn off especially both parents are not cooperative patients at all and until today my dad is supposed to be bed-ridden yet he is not cooperative and moved around in the house, which leads to worsen fractured hip-bones. Just wished both well and be cooperative to doctors advice.

I just received this batch of bento gear from nst.my; accidentally bought extra 2 tier Pooh lunch box (so I am giving my #3 friend); Marie (claimed by youngest), Mickey for 2nd, Pooh (ummm,) may be just for spare, as #1 do not want carton character except Snoopy. Silicon cups, heart shape food cup; snoopy cutters and HK snack box for #3.

Latest yarn stash from Rakuten Japan, which is worth buying. 13 balls of baby soft merino wool (brand: Pino; 40g / 125m)

though blur, finally get this yesterday bento uploaded....today just packed simple meal - steamed sweet potato, red cabbage, sprout ; kiwi & green apple.

BTW: also received number of knitting magazines last week. Expecting another batch of recipie books from Taiwan.

NOT MUCH SPECIAL BENTO BEING PACKED....my eldest is picky indeed and sometimes I just leave it to her to pack her own food. My second is too worry that I would packed more for her, so she normally will pack bread into her lunch box the night before, she is very organized indeed and she will get ready her uniform / snack/lunchbox and water all ready nicely the night before. Whom I always wished my eldest is learning from this not to be procastinating and always "kelam kabut" in the morning....my youngest? depends on her mood, she leave her lunch box at my sis place and I pack simple snack for her as she is in afternoon section.

I bake regularly...and lately also caught the cupcakes bug as well. This batch of cupcakes are meant for my colleage (for her birthday). First time playing with cake decoration, especially icing. To my surprise that my 2nd daughter even surprised me with the snowman, cap, sandal and balls moulded from the fondant....I am lousy in creation...brought this to office, also with few cupcakes without icing. my colleagues took back the decorated cupcakes home and finished by their kids.

my lunch box today. I must admit that I am totally new to make bento for myself. I cannot finish all. 2 tier bento box bought from Bento Pet.
Top: 2 compartment Lock & Lock box, left: orange sweet Potato, right: flat bean, tomato
Bottom container: kiwi & green apple, the top container is not touched at all. I was so full. Should cut down the amount of food in next bento.

a failure to me. I cooked lotus seed & red bean brown rice and wrapped with Nori....the top Kitty box was from Bento Pet too (thank you...) and the bottom 2 tier lunch box for myself. However my colleagues do not like brown rice (Eco Brown)...so not finished. As for my self I took 2 and was too full to take the rest.
Morale of the story: do not expect other to like what we like to eat....although my daughter finished theirs.

Bento #3: also consist only vegatables and fruits for myself.
My daughters packed simple meal (bread) to school and refuse to bring fruits as they complained not enough time to eat.

In facts I have been packing food for my 3 daughters ever since they went to kindergarden, primary and until now. But what I did were very simple food packed in Tupperware. After came to the world of Bento, my eyes widely opened and for the past 5 working days, I start to bring lunch to office as my diet plan as well.

Brief update for few photos taken. Life was in mess during past one week, no water supply ; therefore could not make many mooncakes as I planned initially.

cute tiny blanket. my youngest always fascinated looking at me when I was knitting, ok, I taught her cross stitching, still learning but can hold needle and stitch the stitches slowly. Now she wants to learn knitting, tauhgt her crochet before but I failed as a sifu, she is a lefty.....so how? This time I asked her just take any knitting needles and the stash yarn, knit something small for your dolls. Taa daaa.....finally she finished it last night. first Monkey sock is done. This sock intended for my eldest daughter, somehow, at the cuff/heel part, it is too small for her, though I could wear it,ooopss, her feet is bigger than me. Luckily it fits my 2nd daughter, well....I need more practice, first one Pablo deep meant for my 2nd daughter went to my youngest; whereas this supposed for the eldest ended up for the second. Somehow I find my knit gauge is quite loose,...it does not snuggle as fit as others I saw online.

the sock blocker by using normal wire is made by the sock owner (my 2nd daughter); she wrapped the sharp end with ribbon, decorated with a small button; helped by her eldest sis at final finishing part.

I have bought pleater more than 4 years ago, but never attempted / finished a smocking project. Lately my 2nd DD told me: "mummy, if you do not try it, I am growing up, then I have no chance to wear any smocking dress / skirt made by mummy". so finally, I "forced" myself to cut out , pleated ....wooo.,,this is the hardest section with sweating hours to fix on the needles and started pleating,...whereas I have not much difficulty to try with the smocking stitches, which I love them indeed. Then comes to construction / assembly of the skirt,...another think/ pause/trial section....taa daa....though not very good finishing, I love the finished result. I felt satisfied with sewing experience with my Bernina, zipper footer, zig zag, overlock stitches...

My eldest and youngest DD are flipping through the magazines and book to search for their patterns. LOL

finished this cardi in April 2008 but never motivated to seam up. I had problem how to tidy up the seam, seeing here and there, never satisfied with it. final reference to online tutorial , which I find is very much helpful. The last time I seamed up a sweater was more than 20 years ago, which I was not good at all, as all this while I am self-taught. Handed this cardi to my friend and forgotten to have a photo on the receipient. Featured here was me with the sweater on right after seaming up, this is also first project with zip.

after this good experience of seaming up, decided that I want to knit another cardi for my father,but not immediately coz need to find the right yarn from my stash. Apparently all my stash yarn are cotton.

Initially this is for my youngest DD, however while I was doing this in Penang during last weekend, the little cute 6yrs niece wanted so much and asked could I do one pink color if I finished this. Since my youngest DD willing to give it to her first, I completed without edging on sleeves and managed to give to her before coming home yesterday evening. This pattern is quite easy, as I found that this time I could manage the decreasing at sleeve hole better. I need to do another 2 of this pattern - 1 for my youngest and another one for my 2nd DD.

Threads: Mostly Overdyed cotton threads from Niza's Needle Odysseys....feel a bit reluctant to use the threads coz worry I will have less collections. But if I do not use, there is no better excuse for me to buy more threads. In facts I did buy from time to time.

Ashamed to admit that this project started in November 2005, I was distracted to so many cross stitch charts / patterns that I collected, knitting , crochet.

Last night, started one new crochet for my eldest, then my second complaining that hers is not finished by mummy yet I could not locate where did I keep it during my spring cleaning early Jan this year. Hehee...I will have excuse to start a new crochet project again.

blessing in disguise

I agreed with friend that it is blessing in disguise. With hospitalization without much serious condition I am lucky to recovering from the popular stuff in tropical country "dengue" without high fever but blood test indicated positive.

I was hospitalized for 1 day last Wednesday; and discharged on condition to do regular blood test at hospital again within a week's time. While the nurse sending me to ward she asked "didn't you contact any family member?" coz I was sent by my colleague to hospital durin work hour; since the ward was full I had to rest in daycare room (due to dizziness) prior to hospitalized. First time I really have a deep thought on this: I do not want my family member to worry about me until later. I totally agreed that as time passes, I learnt to build my inner strength to face life difficulties one day at a time and be much independant. If this happened 7 years ago, the first person that I called would be my late hubby and cried as well. I had no tears, not sad though the nurse asked me the question.

I got a week MC, but to office on and off too. During the weekend, I managed to finish the followings:

A simple tote bag for my second daughter, Wee Kie. Initially she wanted to buy a file to keep all her BM textbooks & workbooks as requested by teacher. She could not find one, so I suggested why not I sew one with fabric. Well, I use remnants of fabric swatch (for curtain) which I obtained from my friend. Tried with my Bernina various stitches... tah..daaa....not very good in finishing.

WIP: Dutch Beauty
Border stitched with DMC, remaining mostly with Anchor thread. Very slow in progress, out of total 21 pages chart, I am still on Page 1 border, found it is taxing on my eyesight as I am using so called 36ct Japaneses linen (2 over 2).

In addition, in fact my Print o' The Wave Stole is progressing a bit smoothly and better, I think. finished 4 repeats since I started 21 Mar.

I must admit my finishing is still in infancy stage...yet I am amused during the progress. The green tortoise given to my colleague son is happily taken care by the owner (a 3 yrs old boy). My colleague said he brought him out, sleep with him and before to kindy, place a ball and remind the tortoise to be good when home alone. Ok...I told her that I am going to accumulate some different animals for him to take care.

I am diverted to new toys again. I have been reading blogs of Lis simplearts planet (http://www.simpleartsplanet.com/) amigurumi and fascinated with all the cute dolls.

My result is: flat hump tortoise. I was puzzling must be something went wrong, finally figured out this morning that I was so eager to finish it fast with my girls urge too, I left out 6 rows on the body. My youngest took it to bed and slept with her last night. She took the photo with her real tortoise. I am trying on the owl again, while exercise on my station bicycle, finished the body...hopefully tonight I could finish the owl. Showed the above photo to my colleagues, they requested for their children....ok I would do for them and even planned to take the threads & needles along while queuing up at election this Saturday.

Crazy attempt on Patchwork?

As last Saturday is the alternate week not a working Sat., so on Friday night, my patchwork craze was on me....cut the pieces until 2am still could not finished. All in approx. 495 blocks, and strips for 1 inch square block.
continued on Saturday morning to complete the cutting session,.so tempting to start sewing but not yet, went for my facial, and next day...the second photo tells the story.

the whole quilt size: 90" x 108"
the total focal block is 99 blocks, the most complicating part for me is the 1" square block (red & blue), but it is fun.

new year - pets for my DDs

this package arrived on 26th Dec 07...so it is xmas gift to myself. Most of all are lace yarns, which I get from stash of another knitter.

my youngest was annoyed coz I bought the tortoise magnets for my mum but not for her...so I promised to buy her a "lively" tortoise, ended bought four , each represent each of us in the family. So last night they were busy with taking care of their new pets.

my sister just came back from Japan , as my BIL is coming for biz trip, he passed this to me...Ohhhh...fat quarters of fabric, in Xmas theme. According to my BIL, there so many shops there selling crafty items there, just they dunno how to buy and also due to time constraint. I am most delighted with this 10pcs of fabric..I told my DDs and sister, can we wish to go to Japan and just for mummy craft shopping there? So we have to save money for our goal , a trip to Japan. and whatelse to do....have to start knitting something warm for us....LOL

ok....this is non-craft. I love baking, in facts I am very lousy in cooking. Guess what, whenever, during holidays or weekends, as long as I could cook some toast, baked beans, fried eggs, boiled soup or cooked simple meat, my daughters would finish all. In baking, lately my 2nd and youngest always love to help me around, so this is the sausage bread and they get good response from my girls and colleagues. Ok, not a failed cook. :-)

I am working on a bolero / shrug (from Keitodama Summer 2007) for friend, finished the back and front, have to seam up and crochet the edging. Slow down due to my busy workload at my new workplace.

Tonight I was organizing my wardrobe, found that
there are few shirts are old yet I am not willing to throw nor given away, :

(a) 2 t-shirts which I bought in 1991 from Thailand, one for my late-beloved hubby who is "away" for 6 years and one for myself....I love the wordings most and I am still wearing it though it is old: " OF ALL THE FEELINGS , THERE IS ONE THAT MATTERS: THE GIFT OF LOVING"

(B) A T-shirt which was wore by my late hubby when he was in primary school.....

(c) a sport jacket and cap given by my SIL to her brother (my hubby) which was his favourite, Blue Jays logo on it...yes , he was a big fan of baseball until I would buy him USA Today whenever I saw it at the airport in KL

(d) oooohh..no in facts , not just a few. Though I have given out many, there are some still in the corner of my / my DDs' wardrobe; and this included some of the birtday cards, birthday cards and letters that he gave /sent to me

dunno why, just feel like jotting down , I thought I am ok just to write down this as I worry that one day I may forgetting all this? I think I am ok after all this 6 years? suddenly I feel like crying .....I thought I would no longer cry and moving ahead with life,...no; I am cheating myself, I still cry out of no reason...

this is finally completed. Casted on by mummy (me), continue knitting by my 2nd daughter. As my BIL is in town, so I have to finish before they leave today, so this morning I finished last 12 rows of the middle section, changed to blue Cotton Ease yarn, asked my eldest daughter to continue and cast off and weave off all the loose ends too. So it goes to the new owner today.

I have not been blogging since I came back to my home town...thought of having good rest while finishing some of the freelance project in hand. things happened unexpectedly, i take it positively as blessings. At least I solved the problem to look for job since one of the banker friend recommended me to this job and need to report immediately....ok, there goes my plan to go for good rest and I am working madly more than 72 hours a week. I missed my stitching and knitting.

this is non-picture posting blog....I will be back with some photo. Odd enough last week on biz trip and took my weekend rest in KL, I finished half of a shrug and while waiting, at LRT, in train,...all in i finished the shrug by the time I came back Monday. I took 15 hrs to complete it.

no stitching during the weekend, basically I am physically exhausted. One glance of the trip meter of my car indicated I have been driving 40,000 km travelling for the last 12 months. However, I have new friends and learnt new things. Finally, not to be proud, but I am happy that I made the tatting flip .....
